Background
L & J Gemmell Plant Services (PTY) Ltd was originally established as a closed corporation in 1989 and subsequently converted to a PTY LTD. For the first 20 years of trading the company rented trucks, graders, rollers, tankers and similar equipment together with operators on a sub-contract basis to road construction and property development contractors. The company broadened its offering to include excavators, dump trucks and associated mining equipment. In recent years, the company has achieved so much success with its mining operations that it now operates as a contract mining company and equipment supplier on site at various open cast mines. Administration is managed by Ivy Gemmell and her staff to a very high standard. Human resources, information technology and financial processes have been developed over a long period of time and now match the best standard operating procedures available to SME corporations in the industry.

Our Management
The company was established by Les, Johnny and Ivy Gemmell and has been owned and managed by them throughout its history. Johnny is an experienced mechanic and has always repaired or supervised the repair of the machinery, which has given the company a significant advantage as owner pride is present in all workmanship and consequent down time for operations on site is therefore kept to a minimum. Administration is managed by Ivy Gemmell and her staff to a very high standard.
